My name is Elias Moore and I come from the town of Canton, Massachusetts which is located about 10 miles southwest of Boston. Currently I am a senior working towards a B.S. in Chemical Engineering. Previously I have worked for biotech companies as a process controls engineer. While my ability to use computers allowed me to implement meaningful solutions to challenging problems I had trouble finding the work fulfilling in a corporate environment. As a result I became interested in undergraduate research.

What I find particularly interesting and exciting about IGERT is their interdisciplinary approach to education and research. I am interested in investigating how complex biological systems work at the most simple levels and believe that I will not only learn a lot from other disciplines but as a chemical engineer will be able to offer a unique perspective.
